Ms. Jutta Eckstein will take over the role as Technical Chair of the OOP conference from Dr. Frances Paulisch
After the OOP successfully celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2011, Dr. Frances Paulisch, who has been responsible for the conference programme of the OOP as the Technical Chair for 19 years, opted to pass on the baton to Ms. Jutta Eckstein. To ensure there is an element of continuity Frances Paulisch will be available in a advisory role as the honorary chair in the future.
In the past Jutta Eckstein had already worked as a Technical Chair at various IT conferences throughout the world, such as Agile (USA), EuroPLoP - European Conference on Pattern Languages of Programs (Germany), SET - Software Engineering Today (Switzerland), OOPSLA - Conference on Object- Oriented Programming, Systems, Languages and Applications (USA), XP - International Conference on extreme Programming and Agile Processes (Europe).
In professional terms, Ms Eckstein has been working as a consultant in the application development area, both in Germany and abroad, for more than 15 years. Jutta Eckstein has helped many teams and organizations all over the world to make the transition to an agile approach. She has a unique international experience in applying agile processes within medium-sized to large distributed mission-critical projects.
Under the technical leadership of Frances Paulisch, the OOP has established itself as the leading European conference for decision makers and software engineers and architects as well as for IT project managers over the past 20 years. The longstanding motto and a constant element of the OOP is "Software meets Business", this means that both architects and IT project leaders ("Software") and decision makers ("Business") attend the OOP to inform themselves about the latest trends in the software engineering sector, and to exchange opinions and discuss matters with participants, speakers and exhibitors.
Statement of Frances Paulisch:
"The special atmosphere of the OOP, which is characterized by a mixture of longstanding and new participants, spokespeople and exhibitors, is unique.
The professional approach of the participants combined with their professional experience, and their eagerness to learn new things are the motor for innovations. They have learned about many new trends over the past years. I am certain that the people attending the OOP are very open to additional, new ideas and concepts. I am very happy to hand over responsibility for OOP to Jutta, as I value both her great technical expertise, and also her great knowledge on interpersonal and team skills and I am certain that her work as the technical chair will be a great advantage for the OOP."
Statement of Jutta Eckstein:
"I have known the OOP conference as a visitor, exhibitor and speaker since 1993, i.e. since Frances was responsible for the conference programme as the technical chair. It is Frances’ success that the OOP now has an outstanding status in the European IT conference sector. Taking over the role as technical chair is therefore an honour for me, and simultaneously I see it as a great responsibility and challenge. While maintaining aspects that have proven to be effective, it is important to me to stimulate new ideas. I am looking forward to taking on this role!"
