CONTINUOUS INNOVATION

The Foundation for Success

Market pressure is continuously high and it seems that organizations will only continue to survive if features are delivered fast. However, focusing on fast delivery is leaving behind most often not only quality yet as well innovation. But especially innovation is a guarantee for long-term success. Unfortunately it is seldom possible, to take a time-out for developing innovative ideas. Therefore, it is important to understand innovation as a general or rather a continuous strategy. This year’s OOP focuses on implementing such a strategy in the field of software development. We’re striving to answer the following questions: what kinds of innovative tools, architectures, and techniques allow innovation to happen or are innovative inherently; which languages and designs support innovation without undermining quality; and what kind of leadership and corporate culture enables innovation?

For many years, OOP has become the meeting point for technical experts (architects, developers, requirements-engineers, testers, etc.), technical (project) managers and leaders in IT, because the conference allows gaining an excellent overview of the state-of-the-art in modern software engineering. We will discuss both – promising concepts for the future and as well cutting edge techniques that have already proven to be successful in practical use. For example in the area of Software-Architecture topics like architecture-governance or product-line-engineering will be covered. The track Web-Architecture concentrates on highly-scalable web systems and JavaScript-oriented frontends, while Integration-Architecture dives into the details of SOA and big data amongst others. Leaders will experience the most recent development in the area of change management and will learn more about the pros and cons of Lean IT when participating in the track Project Management & Lean IT. Reinventing Managements on the other hand talks about hot topics like management without (explicit) managers or beyond budgeting. The track Requirements Engineering & Acceptance Test Driven Development discusses for example executable specifications, while Testing & Quality concentrates on testing in the cloud and in production. Agile, Lean, Scrum & Kanban complete the guiding idea methodically and –of course– if we talk about innovation we can’t ignore Technologies like mobile & embedded development or DevOps.

Also this year we want to emphasize the interaction and networking of all participants. Tabletop football or the OpenArena, where you can elaborate topics of interest in more detail, provide a perfect platform for doing so.

I’m looking forward to welcoming you at the conference!
