Data protection information

The protection of your personal data is very important to SIGS DATACOM GmbH (see About us for address). We strictly comply with all statutory data protection requirements.
You can principally use our online services without having to disclose your identity. However, if you decide to register for one of our services, order a product or take out a subscription, you will be asked for your name and other personal information. It is entirely at your discretion whether you enter this information or not.
In summary, we do not in any way collect personal data via our website, except when you have voluntarily provided us with such data (e.g. on registration, in surveys).
Registration is required for special downloads made available by SIGS DATACOM GmbH or one of our partners. Data provided via the registration form will be relayed to the sponsor of each download for direct marketing and market research purposes. Furthermore, the data provided via the registration form will be stored and made available for direct marketing and market research purposes.
The following list provides an overview of how we ensure your data are protected and which data are collected for which purposes.

Data processing

SIGS DATACOM GmbH and/or its hosting partners automatically collects and stores information in server logfiles which your browser provides us with, namely:
• the browser type and version
• the operating system used
• the referrer URL (the site previously visited)
• the host name of the accessing computer (IP address)
• the time of the server enquiry.
These data are not associated with a specific individual but are stored in combination with your IP, so that any conclusions about your identity can only be made in exceptional circumstances required by law and then exclusively within the scope of the law. The data will not be merged with any other sources. Furthermore, following a statistical evaluation, the data will be regularly deleted.

Use of Cookies

This domain uses so-called cookies in several places. They help make our offer more user-friendly, more effective and safer. Cookies are small quantities of data which your Internet browser saves onto your computer.
Most of the cookies that we use are so-called "Tracking Cookies", which as well as the storage of anonymous user data in logfiles mentioned above, are used in web analysis tools to help us analyse user behaviour on this site. Cookies do not cause any damage to your computer and do not contain any viruses.

Web forms

The details that you enter into web forms are sent by email to SIGS DATACOM GmbH and, where appropriate, temporarily stored on the web server. In some circumstances the request is then stored in the relevant back-end systems such as the email account and, if appropriate, the company’s customer service system. Third parties have no access to this data. Your contact details will not be used for marketing purposes or passed on, unless specifically stated. Similarly, some forms feed back to the Google AdWords system when you fill them out if you landed on our website via an advertisement placed by us on Google ("AdWords Conversion Tracking").

Web analytics information

This website uses various analytics systems to analyse user behaviour. The following sections provide information on the tools that we use and what you can do to control the information we collect.

Google Analytics

This website utilises Google Analytics, a web analytics service from Google Inc. ("Google"). Google Analytics uses so-called "Cookies", text files that are stored on your computer and enable analysis of your use of the website.
The information about your use of this website generated by the cookie is normally transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored there. However if an IP anonymizer is activated on this website, your IP address will be shortened beforehand by Google within member states of the European Union or other countries in the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the complete IP address be transferred to a Google server in the USA and shortened there.
On behalf of the operator of this website, Google will use this information to analyse your use of the website, compile reports on website activity and provide other services related to website and internet usage to the website operator. The IP address transmitted from your browser within Google Analytics is not combined with other data from Google.
You can prevent cookies being stored by changing the appropriate setting on your browser; we advise, however, that doing so means you might not be able to fully access all functions of this website. You can also stop the data that is generated by the cookie regarding your use of the website (including your IP address) being collected and processed by Google by downloading and installing this browser plugin.

Google AdWords

In some cases this website reports certain actions that you as a visitor can carry out (for example, registering to take part in a conference) to Google AdWords via so-called conversion tracking, in order to help monitor advertising campaigns. This happens if you accessed the website by clicking on an advertisement. You can find out more on Google.
If you do not wish this to happen, you can set your browser to block the relevant cookies by disabling the setting that accepts all cookies from the domain googleleadservices.com.

Remarketing with Google AdWords

Some sites use Google’s remarketing function to show you advertisements within the Google advertising network after you have visited this website. This is also done through cookies which can be read by websites that belong to the Google advertising network.

Google states that it does not collect any personal data. Should you not wish to take part in remarketing, you can modify the appropriate settings in your Google account.

Bing Tracking

If you reach this website via an advertisement on Bing, it will report back – in a similar way to Google AdWords (see above) – on certain incidents such as form submissions for the purpose of measuring the success of advertisements. Further information is available on Microsoft.

Conversion measurement with Facebook Pixel

On selected SIGS DATACOM websites we employ a visitor activity pixel from Facebook. This allows the behaviour of the user to be tracked after they have reached the SIGS DATACOM website by clicking on a Facebook advertisement. This acts as a way of evaluating the effectiveness of Facebook advertisements for statistical and market research purposes, and can also help to optimise future advertising campaigns.
The data that is collected is anonymous to us and therefore does not reveal anything about the identity of the user. However the data is stored and processed by Facebook so that a user profile can be established and Facebook can use the data for its own advertising purposes, in accordance with the Facebook data use policy. You can turn off advertisements from Facebook and its partners both on and outside Facebook. Further to this a cookie may be stored on your computer.
